Our Story

Manitoulin Brewing Company is the road less traveled. Not that you would want to travel that road. You see, it isn’t quite as enviable as it sounds. Unless you want to work in a convenience store in Toronto like Blair did.  Or, be like Nishin, and, well… let him tell you.

You see, Blair and Nishin have a story that is as special as Manitoulin Island itself. They’ll tell you about it when you visit. They’re unique. They’re Different. They’re off the beaten path. Sometimes it seems like you need a ferry to get across to them. They are the world’s largest fresh water… you get the picture. But make no mistake, they are passionate and easy to love. And now, so is their own hand crafted Manitoulin beer.

Manitoulin Brewing Company is the product of a couple of adventurous, interesting and fun-loving guys from Northern Ontario. They’ve been around, swam with the sea turtles, lived the concrete jungle and wrestled with alligators. Or so they’ve said. I don’t know if it’s true. But Manitoulin is home. Home needs good beer, Manitoulin’s beer. Blair and Nishin knew it. They set out to make it real, for themselves, and for you. It took time. It took elbow grease. It took patient wives. Manitoulin Brewing Company has brewed you something great, a beer with quality ingredients, hand made in small batches and with an attention to detail that you won’t be able to find in any other glass. They hope you like it. For Manitoulin to have a beer of it’s own needed a couple of guys with a story as unique as the island.

That is a story you may know. It is like no other. It involves happy wives. So take a swing, and come on over!
